COKER'S BEACH CREEPER; ONE-NERVED ERNODEA

In Florida, this species is largely known from pine rocklands in Miami-Dade Co. Plants from Big Pine Key often have single-veined leaves and a few specimens have been determined as E. cokeri (Thompson 8170, CM; Killip 40899, LSU; Killip 40218, NY [barcode: 03373765]), but the majority (ca. 30) have been determined as E. littoralis. The Institute for Regional Conservation considers it possibly extirpated from the keys. It was suggested it may hybridize with E. littoralis (Small & Carter 2709, Lakela 27299; Negron-Ortiz & Hickey 1996).
