According to Dorr (2014), the correct name for Kyllinga pumila within Cyperus is Cyperus hortensis. Dorr (2014) also considered the name Kyllinga viridiflora could have priority if found to be validly published. The name Cyperus densicaespitosus has also been considered the accepted name (Carter et al. 2016) as has C. tenuifolius (Delahoussaye & Thieret 1967).
