This species is reported for Florida based on a specimen from 1829 (Mettauer s.n. [US]) that only stated "Florida" for its locality. This species has often gone by the illegitimate name Filago vulgaris (Andrés-Sánchez et al. 2011) which was not recommended for conservation.
