Habitat Hammock edge, and within gaps of adjacent tropical hardwood hammock; associtates include Swietenia mahagoni, Piscidia piscipula, Eugenia foetida, E. axillaris, Bursera simaruba, Coccoloba uvifera, C. diversifolia, Metopium toxiferum, Bourreria sp., Psychotria sp., Randia aculeata, Ocotea coriacea, Delonix regia, Moringa oleifera.

Description Scattered, extending by root runners along compaceted soil, forming a heavily armed thicket to over 4 m high; flowers radially symmetrical, pendulous, pink and yellow; fruit clusters dry, having fallen beneath.
Habitat Abandoned orange grove, along a linear disturbed area and into a sandy, plowed field.
