Description Locally common rhizomatous erect fleshy perennial herb in colonies, fruits pale green, not quite ripe.

Floodplain forest mesic upland forest mix, including Acer negundo, Asimina triloba, Celtis laevigata, Quercus spp., Ulmus rubra, Morus rubra, Ilex decidua. In shade with Viola striata, Sanicula gregaria, Belphilia ciliata, Asimina triloba.
